Alderley Edge Parish Council is recruiting an apprentice to work at the Festival Hall.
The successful applicant will work 30 hours a week, including one day's attendance at Macclesfield College to study business studies and hospitality management - which will lead to a recognised qualification, probably at NVQ level 2 or 3.
Cllr Duncan Herald explained "The Parish Council has decided to hire an apprentice to give a local young person a start on the career ladder and because the Hall is flourishing so we'll need more staff in the future.
"Both the Government and Cheshire East Council are supporting the concept of apprenticeship and this is the sort of chance that a Parish Council should go for."
The apprentice is being employed to act as a trainee or assistant to Hall Manager Ashley Comiskey-Dawson. Their role will include taking bookings for the use of the Festival Hall, helping to organise functions and assisting with bar work.
Duncan Herald confirmed that the cost will be £155 per week to start, with a possible increase subject to performance, and the Government will be pay the Parish Council £1,500 for the year towards the salary.
The apprentice will be appointed for one year, after which there is the possibility of employment.
Anyone interested in the position should email Anne Ross, Clerk to the Parish Council for further information.

Here's what readers have had to say so far. Why not add your thoughts below.
Apprentices aged 19 or over who have completed their first year must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age.
We are getting applicants for the post, at that rate... not just young people either!
By the way, most of the above is my thoughts; not all P.C. policy.
I will be your eyes and ears on the Council watching out for, and over, the selection process
the short-listing for the post will be done by a combination of the Hall Manager and at least two of the three Parish Councillors who make up the Hall Management Working Party... the interviews will be carried out by the same three (possibly four if I'm involved)...I've had the post advertised on alderleyedge.com & in the Wilmslow Express & at Macc. College & on the National Apprentice Scheme (wrong title but its something like that) & at the Wilmslow Job Centre... the interviewing techniques and paperwork etc. has been suggested to us by a high-powered person from M.M.U.... how much more can I have done to ensure a spread of applicants, who will be fairly treated?... if there is a plot to earmark the post for someone, then either the plotters are inept beyond belief or the plot is so widespread that the P.M. and the Archbishop of Canterbury are clearly involved!
I wish I were as cunning and unscrupulous as some make me out to be!
