The 10th season of Lunchtime Concerts at Alderley Edge Methodist Church will commence next month.
Mosaic Guitar Duo, Rebecca Parnell and Emma Smith from the Royal Northern College of Music will perform the first of a new series of concerts on Wednesday 18th September. Lunchtime Concerts will then be held on the third Wednesday of each month, with a variety of instrumentalists scheduled to perform this season.
Since the concerts began in October 2004, organisers have donated in the region of £19,000 to deserving charitable organisations.
Proceeds from the 2012-2013 concerts have enabled Alderley Edge Methodist Church to make donations to Christian Aid, Park School Sports Project, East Cheshire Hospice, Amnesty International, The Booth Centre in Manchester Wood Street Mission, Traidcraft, Methodist Homes for the Aged and their own Time for the Future Spire Appeal.
Jean Walker said "The lunchtime concerts offer an opportunity for the public to come and enjoy a light lunch of sandwiches, cake and a drink with fellow music-lovers. There is always a buzz of happy social interaction during the hour from 12 noon to 1 pm when our supporters meet their friends and enjoy convivial social interaction.
"The music that follows is always of an amazingly high professional standard. We are so lucky to witness performances by talented young musicians often at the start of very promising careers. We are privileged to hear students from Chetham's School of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music, as well as free-lance performers.
"The monthly events are thrilling for the Church community, too, as we open our doors to people who might not otherwise come into the building. The concert takings are distributed, after expenses, to a wide variety of different charities."
The proceeds from the 18th September concert will be given to The Christie.
