Have fun together whilst exploring the park

Xplorer

Local families are being invited to explore Alderley Edge Park, find the markers and complete the challenge whilst having fun together this weekend.

Xplorer is a fun family challenge aimed at primary and pre-school children and their parents, grandparents and guardians. It is an outdoor navigational challenge for the whole family to enjoy and involves a healthy mix of physical activity and decision making.

Using a simple map of the park the aim is to find the points marked on the map and write down the name of the secret animal or colour depending on the course.

No experience of map reading is necessary, and Xplorer is perfect for children as they can run around in a safe and friendly environment and have an adventure searching for the secret markers.

This free event on Saturday, 3rd Auguts, is being run by the Cheshire East Leisure Development Team and it is one of British Orienteering's new initiatives to get more people activity and participating in fun orienteering challenges.

Lee Malkin, Sport & Play Development Officer at Cheshire East Council, said "We are working in partnership with British Orienteering on the project and would like to get as many Families participating as possible, getting people active in a fun and enjoyable activity that will take around 15 minutes to complete."

Xplorer will take place in Alderley Edge Park from 11am until 1pm and the activity is free for all. They will be based in the Pavilion in the middle of the park where pens and maps will be provided.

The event will be repeated on Saturday 24th August and Saturday 14th September. For further information or to pre-register (which is not essential, you can register on the day) visit www.xplorer.org.uk.

Hope it went well...might have been nice if C.E. had troubled to contact your Parish Council; perchance we could have helped? Publicised it?
