Many readers correctly guessed that the photo was taken at the bottom of Macclesfield Road.

The sign is on the wall marking the boundary of St Hilary's Park.

Our readers responses are printed below, in order of posting:

Vince Fogarty: St Hilary's Park.

Michael Chapman "Bottom of Macclesfield Road, on St Hilarys Park wall."

Stephen Holding: Macclesfield Road, opposite the old Post Office.

Alan R Davies: Alma Terrace was at the bottom of Macclesfield Road, and was a pair of Victorian semis which were part of St Hilary's School until they were demolished in 1977. The extension to Alma Terrace remained until it was destroyed by the developers' wrecking ball prior to the construction of the St Hilary's apartments.

Alan Davies: The photo was taken at the bottom of Macclesfield Road. The sign is on the retaining boundary wall for St Hilary's Park. The stone wall and engraved plaque are all that remain of the terrace.

Allan Lunt: It's at the bottom of Macclesfield Road on the left as you drive towards the crossroads.

Karen Robinson: Without going to check is it at the bottom of Macc Road on the St Hilary's wall?

Howard Worsley: I think this photo was taken at the bottom of Macclesfield Road opposite the old Post Office.

Please see article History of Alma Terrace for some very interesting photographs.

Was the school not called S.Hillarys, I seem to remember being told it became known as Saint Hillarys around the time Saint Trinians films were popular, wonder why.
