It's that time again, no not the school holidays but foodies favorite, The Artisan Meat Company's birthday open day.

So Saturday 27th July needs to be popped in the diary to help them celebrate being open for three years.

For those who went along to last years event this year is promising to be even bigger, better and hotter!

Friend of the farm, TV chef, Simon Rimmer is back with a couple of cooking demonstrations alongside the guys from The Big Green Egg who will be showing off what The Artisan Meat Company think is the world's best BBQ and smoker. You will even get the chance to win one, worth £800, in the raffle.

New for this year is a well stocked bar and further demonstrations in sheep shearing and butchery - although we hope not at the same time. For those who like to get struck in, you could try you the sausage making competition.

In addition, my little pony parties, animal feeding, bouncy castles and ice cream are all arranged for their younger fans.

For those that do not yet know, for the past 3 years this little gem has been supplying top quality meats and poultry to the local community and discerning restaurants. All the produce is their own from their own land or supplied by carefully selected partners from the local area. This traditional butchers is fast becoming famous for its attention to detail and customer care delivered by the experienced team of butchers.

Event schedule for the day:

  • 8am - Shop opens as usual.
  • 9am - Cooking starts with breakfast buttes.
  • 10am - Bouncy castle and games for the kids.
  • 10.30am - Sausage making competition for the adults.
  • 11.30am - Sheep shearing demonstration.
  • 12pm - First cooking demonstration.
  • 1pm - Sheep shearing demonstration.
  • 2pm - Second cooking demonstration.
  • 3pm - Sheep shearing demonstration.
  • 3.30pm - Butchery demonstration.
  • 5pm - Grand prize draw.

Plus all day : More food available, refreshments for all ages, more stalls from their suppliers, face painting, feeding the animals, Big Green Egg demonstrations, competitions and prizes, alternative meats to taste and an on-site bar.
