A group of travellers who have set up camp on Council land adjacent to the A34 Wilmslow bypass have been issued with a notice to leave.
The travellers have spent a couple of weeks camped in a field close to Wilmslow High School, which belongs to Cheshire East Council.
A spokesperson for Cheshire East Council said: "The Council is aware of the Gypsies/Travellers that are based on Council land off the A34 Wilmslow bypass.
"Today we have issued them with a notice to leave by 9am on Monday (July 1). If they do not leave by then, we will take court action to secure repossession of the site."
A group of travellers set up camp at two different locations close to the A34 bypass last month.
Initially the travellers spent a week camped in the grounds of Wilmslow High School, adjacent to the A34 bypass. Once they were evicted from the High School they moved down the road to a field off the Alderley Edge bypass, pictured above, where they spent 5 or 6 days.

That way they wouldn't come back, never mind all this mamby-pamby stuff of seeking Court Orders that'll take weeks and weeks, just like the Essex situation that took seven YEARS, never mind a few weeks ..............
Get rid of 'em immediately, I say, and lets save our Council Tax money.
The police should be given the power to impound their non road taxed, uninsured vehicles and force them to clear up their own mess. Oh yes I forgot, the police already have that power but dont have enough bobbies to enforce it!!
I think you will find that the police would usually loiter at the entrance to Wilmslow high or in a little hidey hole on Prestbury road, it's just that they conveniently haven't while the travellers have been present.
