Alderley Edge Methodist Church has been hosting a flower festival this weekend to mark the 150th Anniversary of the building of a methodist church in the village.

Entitled 'Tracing Time' the festival is a celebration of flowers and memorabilia, taking people on a walk through the 15 decades since 1863 when the church was first opened here in Alderley Edge.

Judy O'Brien explained "The displays have been created by church members, friends from other churches in the Alderley Edge and Knutsford Circuit, friends of the church and some members of Wilmslow Flower Club.

"The memorabilia covers events in the life of the church, and also shows social history of the village and local community."

The Flower Festival, which opened on Friday, 20th June, has been highly successful with many people visiting from the village and further afield.

From 1.30pm tomorrow (Sunday 23rd June) the festival will be open for the last viewing and at 6.30pm it will come to a close with a performance of 'The Witness' by the United Christian Singers - a powerful musical depicting the life of the disciple, Peter.

The evening is in memory of the late Rev. Harold Ward, and the proceeds of a retiring collection will be in aid of the Spire Fund.
