Coronation Street star Bill Roache has tonight been charged with two offences of raping a 15-year-old girl in 1967.
The 81-year-old actor was arrested by Lancashire Police at his home on Meadow Way, Wilmslow this morning.
Following consultation with the CPS, William Roache has been charged with two counts of rape and bailed to appear before Magistrates in Preston on May, 14th.
A police spokesperson said "The offences are alleged to have been committed in Haslingden between April and July 1967 and to involve a girl aged 15 years."
