PROMOTIONAL FEATURE

When it comes to recruiting for their Apprenticeship Scheme, Venturi has adopted a different approach to the way that they look for young people to join them.

Founded in 2009, the IT recruitment firm is looking at different ways in which to get young people involved in its business training and development programme.

Based in the centre of Wilmslow, Venturi has already witnessed huge success in the recruiting of Tom Mainwaring, 20, and is looking forward to finding more bright, young stars to be part of its growing team.

Tom says "I was a bit wary of doing an apprenticeship at first as I had heard that the money wasn't very good. I was really surprised when I learnt that I would be getting a fair wage as well as qualifications as I worked.

"The opportunity to get hands on corporate experience has been invaluable and I'm very grateful to Venturi for presenting me with such a great opportunity to learn about the recruitment industry and business in general.

"I have been an integral part of the setup of the Netherlands division, a responsibility I never thought possible when starting 6 months ago."

The company believes that there is a lot of hidden talent out there and businesses should be looking at different ways in which to find these potential future employees.

Qualifications and experience are not essential as full training is given from day one. Skills are nurtured and young people are employed on 'personality, ambition and drive'.

The government approved scheme not only offers National Vocational Qualifications but also one-to-one mentoring, an excellence training coach and real career progression.

The company is keen to embrace its leaders of the future and believes that it all starts with the right attitude.

Sales Director James Doyle says "Having worked in the recruitment sector for 8 years now, I have seen a lot of people fail and a lot succeed.

"The one thing I have found fascinating, is that there has been very few common denominators as to the profile for failure and success; certainly no consistency in terms of background or education.

"The only observation I have made, is people have to really want to change their lives and make sacrifices in the process. The rewards are massive and it's had an amazing impact on mine and my family's life, however to make it in this industry it takes hard work and resilience.

"With the recent social changes and the impact that has had on people's attitudes towards Higher Education, we have realised there is a wealth of talent lost in the middle somewhere, people who are ambitious and want to succeed.

"We are happy to give these people an opportunity and with our training, if they have the right attitude, it is an exciting one with a career they could be proud of."

Managing Director Brad Lamb says "We are fully committed to the local and national economy. We firmly believe that if we put great people in employment in our business, this can only lead to putting more people into work across the IT industry as a whole.

"This is the unique position of being involved with a staffing business; you can do your own little bit to help create jobs across the industry you recruit."

Venturi started with just three staff four years ago and now employs 17 individuals.

To benefit from the scheme, a young person has to be between the ages of 18 and 24 and must not have a degree.

Young people from Wilmslow and surrounding areas are encouraged to apply.
