After months of planning Alderley Edge Youth Club is nearly ready to open its doors.

The club will operate out of the Festival Hall on Friday evenings and has been given the full backing of the parish council, which has ear marked some monies that will be used to help set up and run this much needed club.

PCSO Jim Newns of Alderley Edge Neighbourhood Policing Team has been involved in setting up the club.

He said: "A number of local adult volunteers have already been recruited to staff the youth club but we would like more people to get involved.

"Additionally, if anyone has any items they wish to donate to the club, please get in touch."

It is hoped that the youth club will open towards the end of January.

PCSO Jim Newns had hoped to set up a youth club in 2011, which was to be run in the upstairs room at The Royal Oak, but the plans were stalled when it became clear that the Royal Oak was closing down.

Anyone who would like to volunteer or donate items should contact PCSO Newns on 07948 552130.
