An annual charity carol concert has returned to its roots and raised £1000 for local charities.
The 32nd Christmas Carol Concert, organised by Fay Wertheimer from the Carlton Ensemble, was held at The Botanist on Sunday 23rd December.
The concert first took place at this venue in 1981 but following the closure of the Number 15 Wine Bar the event was hosted by The Wizard, The Merlin and Drum & Monkey before organisers seized the opportunity to return to their roots at 15 London Road.
The evening concert featured a string quartet plus trumpet and trombone, all of whom were professional musicians playing free of charge.
Fay Wertheimer said "It was a full turn out and there was a great cooperation between The Botanist, Living Ventures and Carlton Ensemble."
The concerts have raised nearly £30,000 for local charities and the money raised this year will go to to support Diabetes, Help for Heroes, cancer charities, children's charities including the NSPCC, St Ann's Hospice and East Cheshire Hospice.
