A dedicated web page has been launched to provide up-to-date information on all aspects of Cheshire East Council's highways service.
Residents now have access to all aspects of the service, whether it is to report a pothole, check local roadworks or even track a gritter via an interactive map.
The Service Information Centre can be accessed via the Cheshire East Council website and will be regularly updated.
The launch of the new web page coincides with the use of Twitter by the authority, to update on-going roadworks, gritting routes and much more – simply follow CEHighways.
An application for the iPhone will also soon be available and once downloaded, users will get fast access to the web page and the interactive maps.
Cheshire East Councillor Rod Menlove, Cabinet member with responsibility for environmental services, said: "Our aim is to give people better access to all aspects of our much-improved highways service. We want this web page and smartphone application to be the first port of call for people in Cheshire East, should they have a query about roadworks, streetlights or even drain-cleaning operations.
"The launch of this information centre has been timed to help us prepare for the winter – we can all benefit from accessing up-to-date information on gritting routes and potholes at the touch of a button. You can even track gritting vehicles via the website. I hope this will offer reassurances to residents that we will respond quickly and efficiently, should the severe weather conditions, seen in previous years, return."
