Hockey: Ladies reach national final

Alderley Edge Hockey Club Ladies Hockey first team have won through to the final of the England Hockey Board ‘Vase’, which is a national knockout competiton for leading ladies hockey clubs.

Edge beat the Vikings Hockey Club from the Isle of Man, 5 goals to 1 in a thrilling semi - final played in Liverpool last weekend. Two goals from former Lithuanian International player Renata Matjusaityte and one each from Irma Laskevice, Katie Marriott and Katie Austin saw Edge through against a side that was unbeaten all season until this match.

A big crowd of Edge supporters were pitch side to cheer the ladies on to a famous victory.

The prize for the Cheshire champions is a final tie against Guernsey to be played at Tonbridge School in Kent at 10.00 am , Saturday 16th April.

Let’s keep our fingers crossed that the ladies bring ‘The Vase’ back to Moss Lane!
