Now in its 44th year, the ever popular annual Charity Carol Nite is scheduled to take place on December 22nd at The Drum & Monkey.

Over the decades this popular event has raised both the roof and £40,000 for local charities nominated by those present.

The Charity Carols started by chance in 1981 at the former Number 15 Wine Bar when 'wandering minstrels' of the Carlton Ensemble struck up and carollers joined in.

Following the venue's demise in 2008, the Charity Carols Nite moved around Alderley village to the Wizard, The Botanist, The Merlin, The Yard, the De Trafford Arms Hotel and returned in 2023, after 13 years absence to The Drum & Monkey.

Since 1981, revellers have donated to Shelter, AIDS, Royal Life Boats, East Cheshire Hospice, NSPCC, Diabetes UK, the Heart Foundation,The Christie and many more causes.

Guest are welcome from 7pm for a complimentary glass of mulled wine and mince pies, followed by a 3-course meal and raffle before the Carlton Ensemble's live music commences around 9pm.

Tickets, including a £12 charity donation, costs £35. To book call The Drum & Monkey on 01625583977 or email [email protected]. For more information call Fay 07989501520 or email [email protected]

If you just fancy singing, that's absolutely fine. Come along around 8.45 pm, deposit £10 or more at the bar.
