Now in its 43rd year, the ever popular annual Charity Carol Nite is scheduled to take place on December 17th at The Drum & Monkey.

The Charity Carols started by chance in 1981 at the former Number 15 Wine Bar when 'wandering minstrels' of the Carlton Ensemble struck up and carollers joined in.

Following the venue's demise in 2008, the Charity Carols Nite has moved around Alderley village to the Wizard, The Botanist, The Merlin, The Yard, the De Trafford Arms Hotel and now after 12 years returns to The Drum & Monkey.

Over the decades this event has raised £39,000 for local charities nominated by those present including Shelter, AIDS, Royal Life Boats, East Cheshire Hospice, NSPCC, Diabetes UK, the Heart Foundation, The Christie and many more causes.

Guests are welcome from 6.55pm for the Charity Carols' complimentary glass of mulled wine which will be followed by a 3-course meal, coffee and mince pies plus its raffle and the Carlton Ensemble's live music from 9pm.

Tickets costing £32 include a £12 charity donation.

If you just fancy singing, that's absolutely fine. Go along around 8.50 pm, deposit a tenner- or more - at the bar and sing.
