Pupils at The Ryleys Preparatory School have been raising awareness of and money for Marine based causes as part of their Green Flag application.

The Eco Club have been busy trying to have an impact on our oceans from inland and have so far this year joined The Friends of the Carrs on a river side litter pick by The River Billon, stopping two large bags of litter from entering the oceans.

This week the pupils raised an impressive £402 with a Teddy Bear's Picnic Sale in the School Hall.

The fundraiser followed a whole school vote for which Marine based organisation to raise the money for and 'Team Seas' was selected as the favourite. TeamSeas is an international fundraiser project, partnered with Ocean Clean Up, who remove a pound of litter for every financial pound donated.

The Ryleys Eco Club are working through the Green Flag application throughout the academic year and hope to have their entry successfully completed by July.
