Police vow to take further action following illegal street race

Police officers are contacting drivers following an illegal street race on the A34 Wilmslow bypass earlier this month following further investigations.

Police received calls from concerned residents on Sunday 5th December regarding over 100 vehicles being driven dangerously, speeding and creating excess noise.

At the time officers arrested one man and gave more than 30 tickets to drivers. A 22-year-old man from Leeds was also arrested on suspicion of endangering aircraft and causing danger to road users with his use of a drone. He has since been released under investigation pending further enquires.Today, Cheshire Police have provided an update on their investigation into the street racing.

A spokesperson said "Roads & Crime Unit officers and the Digital Forensic Examiners have reviewed footage & collected evidence. We'll now contact the registered keepers to identify the drivers & take action."
