Vacancy open for new member to join Alderley Edge Parish Council

Due to a resignation, a vacancy has arisen on Alderley Edge Parish Council.

Mike Taylorson tended his resignation after nearly 6 years, having been elected in May 2015 when Alderley Edge FIRST defeated the nine Conservative candidates to take every seat on Alderley Edge Parish Council.

The vacancy will be filled by election if, within fourteen days (excluding weekends and Bank Holidays) from Tuesday, 26th January, any ten voters submit a written request for an election to the Returning Officer.

If this happens there will be a period of time for candidates to be nominated and if two or more candidates are nominated there will be an election.

If no such request is made, the vacancy will be filled by Alderley Edge Parish Council, who will be at liberty to select who they wish, provided the person qualifies to be a councillor.

Any request for an election to be held to fill the vacancy must be in writing and sent to The Returning Officer, Cheshire East Borough Council, Westfields, Middlewich Road, Sandbach, CW11 1HZ.

If an election is called, in accordance with the Coronavirus Act 2020 and the 2020 Regulations, Regulation 6 provides that an election to fill a casual vacancy that would have taken place in the period between March 5th 2020 and 5th May 2021 will now take place on 6th May 2021.

Another one of the “Dream Team” stands down.

Many thanks for your excellent efforts in bringing about much-needed change Mike.

I believe that Alderley is a better, kinder place as a result of your work

With respect, there hasn't been much 'change'. Alderley has got much worse over that last few years. We now now have a pseudo car rally every weekend and my children are scared to even go into the village because of the noise. I have been pretty unimpressed with Alderley First lot - their so called achievements have not improved the environment - with respect, their achievements are very limited.

Any danger of Alderly first sorting the parking issue out? This is going to be a massive issue when shops re open. No parking means people go to other towns. They have had 5 years and I think they have made 5 extra spaces.

Christine,

Am I right when reading you comment, that you think it’s only ok to hold our politician’s to account if we have attempted to become one ourselves?

That sounds like something the locals in Russia or China might be told. Luckily we live in England where free speech is still just about allowed.

Mark,
I think you may be miss-reading Christine's entry.
I don't believe that she is in any way against free speech.

I accepted that she was suggesting that if any individual is unhappy with the Parish Council, and has the time needed, then that person might wish to put her/him self forward as a candidate.

I might mention that Christine was responsible for starting the Alderley Edge Festival and for running it for several years; so she is suggesting that other/s do what she did?

Christine Munro was one of the original 9 ‘Alderley First’ organisation of independent Councillors elected in May 1995.

Christine continues to inspire many of us with her volunteering for Alderley Edge in Bloom, the Alderley Edge Station Volunteer Groip and the May Fair organisation.

Thanks to all the past ‘Alderley First’ Parish Councillors , Christine Munro, Ruth Norbury, Ilana Higham, Geoff Hall and Mike Taylorson for your service to the community.

Always good to have some new blood for the future and support succession planning on the Parish Council. New vision and direction could help to tackle the on going challenges of parking, policing, littering and keeping Cheshire East / Ansa support services up to an acceptable level.

Thanks MT for all your hard work !!

You have always been a visible and most approachable Parish Councillor , you’ve always offered words of wisdom and support to myself , indeed putting me in the right direction when I have needed to speak to CEC.

A true gentleman of this Parish and a downright lovely person !!

Wishing you and Anne all the very best ... Kindest Regards from me , Charlie and the daft dog .... Hopefully see you in the DT with Pete et al at some point this year ....
