The garden waste collection service in Cheshire East will be suspended for nearly two weeks over the Christmas period.

Cheshire East Council's wholly-owned environmental services company Ansa will suspend collections of garden waste from Tuesday, December 22nd, through to Sunday, 2nd January, 2021.

Residents are asked to check the council's online calendar for their last collection of 2020 and their first collection of 2021.

Councillor Laura Crane, Cheshire East Council cabinet member responsible for environmental services, said: "Over the Christmas period there will be no garden waste collections from Tuesday 22 December, collections will resume on Monday January 4, 2021.

"This is to allow the council to utilise their vehicles to catch up after the bank holidays on recycling and waste collections and to cope with the additional volumes experienced at that time of year."

During this period any food waste can be placed in your black bin.

The interruption applies to green waste only. Collections of normal household waste, including recyclables, will continue as normal.
