Love Alderley

Promotional Feature

Late 2017 a group of local businesses decided to form a new group within the village. The aim was to bring businesses of all types together, along with community groups and the council – in order to get to know each other, share ideas, organise events, support each other and generally start working "together"!

Following the introductory meeting at the end of January where there was fantastic interest with attendance of over 20 businesses and community groups, the group has held monthly meetings and now have active engagement from over 70 businesses and groups within the village.

The group has had some great support from the council and some residents from within the village including a retail expert and a freelance town centre consultant – both of whom have given their time and expertise to the group and helping it go from strength to strength.

Since the first meeting just 4 months ago it has been a bit of a whirlwind! Love Alderley have been featured in the parish newsletter and forged some fantastic links with community groups such as the May fair, Alderley Luncheon Club, Alderley in Bloom and the Alderley Edge Festival. They also put on an Easter Egg hunt within the village with the help of the local schools and the newly saved library which was very popular with the younger residents and visitors of the village!

Most notably, the group have produced a village map featuring and funded by over 55 businesses from the Love Alderley group and kindly developed by John Marshall and Geoff Hall. It is hoped the map which also features some lovely walks within the village, will help visitors (and residents) make the most of the great things Alderley has to offer. The map is being distributed to a variety of locations such as public transport links, local businesses, national trust properties and tourist information points. It will also be included in the next parish newsletter giving 2500 residents the chance to grab their copy!

As some may have seen at the May Fair – the group have launched a Website featuring businesses and community groups within the Village, as well as a FREE loyalty card scheme which gives anyone the opportunity to sign up via the website and take advantage of some fantastic offers and discounts from local businesses.

The group enjoyed a Launch Party on the 30th May – hosted by The Botanist, where businesses and community groups got together to celebrate all their hard work and success so far.

Emma Mason, Chair of Love Alderley, says "The support and positivity we have had so far has been fantastic - we really hope that the enthusiasm and productivity of the group continues. We are looking forward to arranging other events within the village for Halloween and Christmas. Keep following us on social media to keep up to date with our activities!

"If you know anyone who would like to get involved with Love Alderley – please encourage them to get in touch! The more the merrier!"
