Well-known local Chef Enzo Mauro, from the top Italian restaurant and bar Osteria Mauro in Mottram St. Andrew, has just scooped the coveted title of "Best Chef of the Year" at the prestigious Hi-Life Dining Awards. Held at Manchester’s Hilton Hotel, The Hi-Life Dining Awards honour restaurants and chefs throughout the UK and Ireland.

What is particularly special about this award is that it is awarded by the 100,000 members of Hi-Life diners club so it really is all about the food and the dining experience.

BBC North West Tonight’s anchorman and news presenter Gordon Burns hosted the evening, with acting and local music legend, Noddy Holder and stars from Hollyoaks, Emmerdale and Coronation Street presenting awards.

They are the largest restaurant accolades to be voted for by the dining public and Enzo is understandably delighted “It’s wonderful to be recognised for what I do, cooking is close to my heart and seeing people enjoy my food gives me so much pleasure, it’s what being a chef is all about. We serve dishes that can be enjoyed by everyone and to have been awarded this top award from the diners themselves means that we might just be doing it right."

He continued “Of course behind any Chef there is a great team so I must also thank them and all my family for their great work in making our two restaurants just so successful."
