An extremely talented and courageous young man has overcome a very difficult start in life to obtain a place at one of the region's top independent schools.
Joss Naylor has just passed the Senior School entrance examination for Manchester Grammar School which is a tremendous achievement for the 11-year-old boy whose parents were told, only 8 years ago, that he would always be behind.
Due to his delayed speech, a glide in both eyes and major physical development issues related to Cerebral Palsy, his family were advised that he should attend a special school in Macclesfield.
However, Joss overcame all these difficulties having undergone spinal surgery in 2010 and extensive soft tissue lengthening in both of his legs in 2015.
As a result, Joss was off school for full terms whilst recovering and changed primary school twice before starting at The Ryleys in Year 5.
His mother Nicola Naylor said "There are a number of children locally who have now had the same surgery and are at local schools.
"It would be great encouragement for them to see what Joss has achieved and that anything is possible. Especially when your told it's impossible."
