Wilmslow Police Officers attended a road traffic collision on London Road in Alderley Edge during the evening of Wednesday, 10th January.
Officers were called to report of a collision near to the railway station at 5.51pm. Two vehicles, a black BMW 3 series and a grey Mini Cooper, that were travelling towards each other had collided whilst driving over the railway bridge.
Both drivers, neither of which were injured, remained at the scene until the police arrived. The driver of the BMW, a 55-year-old woman, provided a positive breath sample and was arrested at scene. Both vehicles removed because of damage.
The driver of the BMW has subsequently been charged with drink driving and will appear at Stockport Magistrates on 29th January.
