Join the village spring clean this weekend

Volunteers will be out and about in the village this weekend taking part in the Great British Spring Clean.

The clean-up will start on Friday, 3rd March, and concentrate on Heyes Lane, the path to Davey Lane, the area around the Festival Hall, Waitrose car park and London Road.

On Saturday, 4th March, a group will be cleaning up Chapel Lane, Mottram Road and the park. Then on Sunday, 5th March, they will set off from the station car park at 10am to litter pick and walk the Britain in Bloom judges route.

Christine Munro said "We have litter pickers, plastic gloves, high viz jackets, and bin bags. If you can help on any of the days we'd love to see you. Just let us know or just turn up."

Volunteers will be meeting at the station car park at 10am each day and are requested to put full bags of rubbish near the letterbox in South Street Car Park.

Christine added "We hope you can join us. We are going to make a difference to our lovely village this weekend."

The Alderley Edge Partnership are making plans for our entry to Britain in Bloom this year and one of the projects we are working on is the railway station car park.
We are clearing the embankment at the station of all the overgrowth, pruning the trees and shrubs, and generally working to make it look more attractive.
I would like to ask everyone if they have additional perennials they or their neighbours and friends may like to donate when they are doing a spring tidy in their gardens. Ideally woodland or shade loving plants would be more suitable on this north facing slope but we could take anything. Similarly any of you or your neighbours with unused seed might think of donating to us.
We will be working on the embankment on Tuesday and Wednesday next week if you would like to drop any plants off, or alternatively please contact me and I can arrange collection. My e-mail is . Thank you
