Sneak peak inside The Alchemist

The Alchemist bar and restaurant has opened today (Tuesday, 15th November) on the former Grill on the Edge site.

The Living Ventures bar, known for its creative cocktails in cities including Manchester, Leeds and Liverpool, is making its first debut into suburbia with their new site on London Road - having first opened in Spinningfields in late 2010.

The opening has created around 40 new jobs. The team headed up by manager Dave Rotheram who has worked for The Alchemist in both Manchester sites and cut his teeth as a bartender at The Living Room on Deansgate. He leads a management team of four overseeing the two storey site which has a capacity of 150, including a restaurant situated within the venue's conservatory with 44 covers.

Guests are greeted by a two storey glass façade, making a real statement on the high street, and a central island bar on the ground floor gives the bar team the chance to create a bit of theatre when mixing an array of ingredients to produce concoctions worthy of a true alchemist including the Mad Hatter's Tea Party, Smoky Old Fashioned and Bubblebath.

The first floor, which was formally home to a private dining room, wine cellar and toilets(which are now located downstairs) has been transformed into a smaller bar area with a capacity of around 55.

Simon Potts, managing director of the Alchemist said: "We are thrilled to be bringing the Alchemist to Alderley Edge. Some residents will already be aware of the brand from our Manchester sites and we've had a huge amount of enquiry and enthusiasm during development. We believe it will be a welcome addition to the bustling social scene in the village and we can't wait to immerse ourselves in the local community."

The Alchemist will be opening from 9am to midnight Monday to Wednesday, 9am to 1am on Thursdays, 9am to 2am on Fridays, 10am to 2am on Saturdays and 10am to 12am on Sundays, with alcohol available from 11 am.

They will be serving breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week from 9am through to 10.45 pm. From classic favourites with a twist like special fried chicken in a basket to Japanese ramen and smashed avocado and poached eggs to the full English breakfast.
