Cheshire Community Choirs is now in its 6th year in Bramhall and 2nd year in Alderley Edge and Wilmslow. This Autumn term promises to be its best yet as its popularity soars due to television programmes such as 'Military Wives' and 'Naked Choir'. Gareth Malone has proven that singing is for everyone and not just the chosen few!

Kate Firth, our Director says "Choir singing has never been more popular than it is today. It's a great way to unleash your hidden talents and display them to the world through music. Singing as part of a small community gives people a sense of belonging and transports them into a different world where the pressures of everyday life can be forgotten for a while.

"Choir members are taught how to control breathing, project the voice, enunciate clearly and improve their posture and physical presence. Using breathing techniques and vocal exercises, we help all members control their nerves and find their voice"

Bramhall Community Choirs was first launched in September 2010. Since then choirs have been formed in Heald Green, Knutsford, Alderley Edge and Wilmslow. All the choirs are held during the day at local Methodist churches. There are no auditions and rehearsals are relaxed and fun. Many members have health issues, most of whom have found great benefit from the breathing exercises, physical warm ups and just enjoying a good sing!

Singing is medically proven to slow the heart rate, lower blood pressure, reduce stress and produce a natural endorphin-fuelled high. It has also helped many people struggling with the effects of Dementia and Alzheimers.

All the choirs learn the same songs which enables them to join together for events to create one big community choir. Both singers and non-singers of all ages and experience are welcome to join any of our choirs.

Alderley Edge choir is held on Tuesdays 2pm to 3.30pm at Alderley Edge Methodist Church and Wilmslow on Wednesdays 2pm to 3.30pm at Wilmslow Methodist Church.
