A whizz-popping day at The Ryleys

Children at The Ryleys celebrated Roald Dahl Day in true Dahl fashion with a chocolate workshop in their science lessons, Fantastic Mr Fox challenges in PE, dressing up as characters and enjoying readings from their favourite Roald Dahl books.

The children let their imaginations run wild as they created and wore costumes such as Fantastic Mr Fox, the Oompah-Loompahs, Matlida and The Enormous Crocodiles.

In their science lesson, Year 2 melted chocolate to create chocolate biscuits, watched how skittles turned into rainbows and designed their own chocolate bars. In a Dahl themed assembly, children from Year 1 upwards read out extracts from their favourite Roald Dahl books while the rest of the children took part in a costume parade.

Headteacher, Mrs Claire Hamilton, said "It's been a fantastic day and so lovely to see all of the children get involved. There have been some fabulous costumes and topping a chocolate workshop in their science lessons, is going to be very hard to beat!"
