Green light for residential development at former farm

Planning permission has been granted for a residential development on a former farm located on the outskirts of Alderley Edge.

The approved scheme involves changing the use of, and extending, Hawthorn Farm on Hough Lane, as well as converting three outbuildings for residential use. These buildings were part of a working farm until September 2014. The associated farmland is now tenanted and the farmhouse, associated outbuildings, Dutch barns and farmyard are now unused and redundant.

The Hawthorn Farm estate lies within the North Cheshire Green Belt, immediately to the east of Hough Lane and approximately 200 metres north of the junction with Moss Road.

The farmhouse and all three brick built barns will be retained to create four dwellings - a four bedroom farmhouse, 5 bedroom bar, 4 bedroom barn and one 3 bedroom barn. Whilst the Dutch barns will be dismantled to make space for private gardens, garages and a new parking court.

The plans can be viewed on the Cheshire East Council website by searching for planning reference 15/1327M.

At least it's on te footprint of the existing farm and yard!
Describing the buildings as redundant is slightly misleading as they are only so because a developer has purchased the property.
If a farmer had bought the place...who knows!!
