Enid & William – The Lost Photographs Reunited!

In charity shops across the land, there are usually three options for donated vintage photographs: they will end up hidden away in boxes on backroom shelves, in glass cabinets for sale or simply thrown out with the rubbish.

If you've been following my previous posts on this subject, you'll know that the Team at Oxfam in Alderley Edge will always look for the fourth option – reuniting them with their descendants, if at all possible. It is a project about which I am very passionate and it's an incredible feeling when I can actually make it happen.

Today it happened.

I just wanted to share with you this photograph of Dennis Robinson, the Director of Robinson's Brewery in Stockport, holding the photographs of his Aunt Enid we found and returned to him. Dennis will be placing them in the Robinson Family Archives along with the photograph we found of his Uncle William, who sadly died in the battle of Broodseinde on the 4th September 1917 whilst serving in the Durham Light Infantry.

My goal was to reunite the lost photographs with family and achieve a happy ending. I think we achieved that. :)
