Destructive Party Goers on Macclesfield Road

Last Friday evening a resident of Macclesfield Road hosted a party. Guests arriving parked their vehicles on the newly laid Grass Verge between Franklyn Lodge and Red Acre. For the past 18 months the verge has looked unsightly through the mindless parking of Contractors working at Thornfield Heights and Ambergates. Following the completion of the project the Contractor recently landscaped the area. This area now has been reverted to an unsightly mess again. The residence that held the party should have made adequate parking arrangements within their gated area for their guests. Had this mess been outside their property I feel sure that they would not be impressed. The world has become a lesser place as people appear to have little or no respect for the area they live in!!

Julian, are you becoming a “grumpy old man” in your latter years. You were such a cad & bounder at school, old bean!?
Let me know when the next paryt is & we can take a bottle or two of DP ‘57 round & crash the fun old boy.

Sorry Steve but I have to agree with your friend Julian. There is nothing wrong with taking a pride in our surrounding area. Too many times vehicles use the grass verges to park on and refuse collectors seem to use them as a part of the highway. Where we live they have churned up the verge which now looks a total mess. Through the summer months it healed a little but now it is an absolute mess. Hopefully Julian’s neighbours will put matters to rights whereas we have to rely on Cheshire East Council!

You might want to check on who ‘owns’ the verges concerned. If as I suspect it is Cheshire East, then you can either demand that C.E. repair damage or you can ask them to give you permission to put posts or stones etc. to prevent damage?

Interesting point Duncan, I believe it is Cheshire East that owns the verges as you suggest.
Do you know who I can contact in order to discuss some options.

Possibly either go via your A/E Ward Councillor (Frank Keegan) or approach Councillor David Topping, who is the portfolio holder for Highways (I think).
Probably DavidTopping @ cheshireeast.gov.uk (I think).

I might try doing the same for the grass verges at Ryleys Farm. They are turning into an unsightly quagmire due primarily to the selfish and lazy behaviour of the teachers and other staff from The Ryleys.
