Has anybody else noticed that since the children returned to school last week the amount of dog mess on the pavement has increased drastically?
In the space of just seven days four considerable “deposits” have appeared on the pavement outside our house within a 100 yard stretch, not to mention the huge dog mess smear on the railway bridge (no doubt trodden in by numerous innocent people). The only way to avoid it is to walk on the road.
A quick search on google will show that there is no risk to adults from clearing up after their dogs (following sensible precautions) while the risks to children from an unintended encounter with dog faeces are considerable - spreading disease and even causing blindness.
Perhaps we should place alongside the speed limit signs as you enter the village, signs indicating that walking on the pavements in Alderley is dangerous. Perhaps those responsible are trying to change the image of the Village from one of champagne guzzling WAGs to a disease ridden and smelly village. We can’t really complain about litter when we turn a blind eye to owners leaving their dog’s excrement in the middle of the pavement (or worse still buried under leaves - yes, I have seen you!!).
For residents or visitors who wish to raise this with the council the number is 0300 123 5015 or you can email them at

I will certainly make sure I photograph anybody with their dog who does not pick up and will challenge anybody I see demonstrating such a selfish and irresponsible attitude.
