A34 Alderly Edge / Melrose way

Hi,

We are thinking about purchasing a property in Poynton which would potentially have the Poynton bypass (SEMMMs) running behind it approximately 150m away.

I’ve noticed many comments about the Alderley Edge bypass on this forum and just wondering how bad it is?

We drove to Wilton Crescent this evening to get an idea of the noise and it didn’t seem too bad, but then I noticed Ricky Lee’s comments about it being horrible.

We’ve looked at the plans which have been submitted which state that the noise difference will be between 5-10db in 2017 but we aren’t sure what this sounds like (hence the visit to areas close to the bypass). I cant find any noise maps for the A34 bypass so difficult to see what the estimated noise would have been compared to the actual.

Any help would be appreciated, although compensation is paid we’d like our next move to be for a while so although we might be paid some money it won’t be able to replace peace and quiet which we value more.

Many Thanks

Atul

Well the house I live in is a field away from the road and it is noisy outside. I used to be able to sit in the back garden and it was very quiet but now the sound of traffic is a constant. You do get used to it so I suppose it’s just strange for me (and the rest of the folks, I would think) to get used to a difference in sound pollution. Night time is probably the worst because you can hear boy-racers speeding down at some speed - it totally depends on what kind of noise you’re used to! :)

I live in Fairbourne Ave,the noise from the by-pass at night is awful.
If you want to sleep with the windows open i reccomend motorcycle earplugs-work a treat.
