GREEN BIN COLLECTIONS

There will be no Green Bin Collection by Cheshire East for 4 months after 18th November. Doesn’t anyone intend to pick up leaves or tidy their gardens until the middle of March 2014? In reply to my email to them, Cheshire East have said “Suspending the garden waste collection service is a regular occurrence in Cheshire East and is common practice amongst other local authorities”. A quick internet search does not support this, in fact Manchester City collect every 2 weeks until March 2014 and then resume weekly collections and Cheshire East only suspended collections for 7 weeks last year whilst they collected the black bins weekly. I don’t think a 14 mile round trip to my “local” recycling centre is acceptable - what do the other Alderley residents think?

I think a lot of people are of the same opinion Heather but it’s not in our hands.

I personally still have summer bedding in numerous large pots that still look to good to empty out.  I have hardly begun to start clearing up the leaves as the trees have only just started to turn colour and then the collection will end.

I end up leaf clearing for numerous neighbours and was still doing it towards December last year.

It’s to early to end the collection in November, it should end in the New Year IMO.

I’ve just filled my last green bin with leaves, but there are still plenty on the ground, not to mention the large number still on the trees. Hopefully the leaves that I collect will dry out enough for me to burn them before next March, as my personal contribution to global warming to add to the hot air which regularly emanates from Cheshire East.

Got half a bin full already and just had last collection and still plenty left to be raked up.

Leaves are still on and falling from the trees. How ” green” is it to fill the car up and take bags of leaves to the tip? How many trips will this be as bags of leaves take up so much space in the car? Terrible decision by Cheshire East. They should not be cutting these front line services to ratepayers. I think many people are still unaware that there are no green bin collections now until March.

I don’t know if iam am being daft here but by paying council tax to CEC does this not count as a contract for services supplied?
If so have they not broken their conrtact with residents by not supplying contrcted services?
