Haag Cottages.

Graham McLelland	On the Edge near the site of the old sand hills which many locals remember,there used to be a collection of cottages.Does anyone know why they were named “Haag Cottages” ? as this is of Dutch/German origin and means hedge and or enclosure?.

Alan R Davies	They were called “Hagg Cottages” rather than Haag, and were so named because they were on Hagg Lane. Why was it called Hagg Lane? I don’t know, but a hagg or hag is an outcrop in a peat bog, which sounds consistent with that location.
