On the Edge near the site of the old sand hills which many locals remember, there used to be a collection of cottages.Does anyone know why they were named “Haag Cottages” ? as this is of Dutch/German origin and means hedge and or enclosure?.

They were called “Hagg Cottages” rather than Haag, and were so named because they were on Hagg Lane. Why was it called Hagg Lane? I don’t know, but a hagg or hag is an outcrop in a peat bog, which sounds consistent with that location.
