Alderley Edge By-Pass closed again this morning (9.00am) due to a very bad crash under Brook Lane bridge.

I have seen too much bad driving on this stretch of road ! and why drivers need to overtake other vehicles doing an o.k. speed I don’t know.

Tragic end to this story. Heartbreaking to read it.

Something needs to be done about the speeding on the A34 and through the village itself, a lady was killed crossing the road in the village a few years ago and now this, speed cameras and a central reservation should have been put in place on the, bypass from day one it resembles the autobahn at times. More money and time should be spent dealing with people who speed and drive dangerously instead of focusing on parking tickets.

Why was this bypass allowed to be built , designed with no central reservation and protective barrier strip?
It’s not as if there is any shortage of space and I’m sure that such tragic incidents such as this could have been prevented with a little commonsense applied by the designers and planners before hand?
How long before the next incident I wonder?

It appears that all members of the community are aware of the very serious problems that surround this length of road. This is not the fault of the bypass, the blame must lie with some who use it. But it also appears that those with the position and capability to bring about improvment in peoples behaviour, and added safety to the carrageway are doing little about it.

Sorry to say many drivers travelling in both directions are ignorant of the fact it is a 60 Mph speed limit and increasing numbers of vehicles frequently over take at this speed ,with total disregard of anyone else.
