In the early 50s my parents Hilda and Harry Morrey owned the chip shop in Chapel street for about 8 years,  I can remember there was a cobblers next door and I remember the bakery at the rear belonging, to I think Craig’s on London Road.

I remember the chip shop in the 60’s. my granddad Eddie Fletcher was the bootmaker next door.He moved there before the war and moved his business to Tyler’s street when most of Chapel street was demolished to make way for the new maisonettes..
