Hough Lane Closure

It seems as if Hough Lane has been closed to traffic for about a year, although it’s probably more like 3 weeks.  I didn’t notice any announcements on here or in local press.  Why is it closed?  And why for so long?  And when can we expect it to reopen?  Anyone know please?

Hi Claire, I understand the road is closed to allow for Electricity North West to transfer electrical services to the new main which is situated in the carriageway.
I believe the works were scheduled to take place between Monday 8th July and Friday 19th July so I have asked CEC to confirm when the road is expected to reopen.

Actually - most of the time you can get down Hough Lane - there are lots of works on it but its passable with care.

If you go to the Cheshire Roadworks map here:—> http://goo.gl/uQHgWo and zoom in to the relevant site there is information about what is happening. Current completion date is 2nd Augus 2013.

Hi Lisa,
Did CEC come back to explain why the road closure has overrun by so long?
Thanks for the link Michael, as you say current completion date is stated for 2nd Aug, however they state on there that there are 2-way signals in place & not that the road is closed (I agree with Marc, you can generally get down there with care) - do CEC actually appreciate it is closed?
