Well - it took longer than I expected but Matthew the tramp has again taken up residence on the bench outside the library fully equipped with alcohol etc.

I really hope that the do-gooders at the church do not once again permit him to take up residence in the porch.

In the village today…on the ‘Nurse Hatton’ bench, outside the bank…stretched out on the bench and asleep…with a plastic bag, filled with beer cans next to him…was a young man…does Matthew have an apprentice?

Marc / Duncan, why don’t you both find out the answers to your burning questions and talk to him, he’s a human being and he’s in a horrible situation due to alcohol.  As such up-standing local pillars, why don’t you do something about it other than snipe with thinly disguised contempt - there but for the grace of ....

Hi Dan…we have…he’s had treatment at Macc. Hosp. and also he’s turned down treatment there…the local church has helped him…local business people have tried to help him…he’s banned from alcohol selling shops…he’s been in court here and has refused the court’s help..our PCSO has talked with him…I’ve had brief conversations wilt him…how much more can we do? Does there not come a time when there’s not much more we can do..even from the great height of being a pillar?...I am told that he’s now been sent to Glasgow, to answer court charges there.
If we can’t change his ways and the professionals can’t get him back into society; do you have any ideas? as I’m sure he’ll be back anon!
In the meantime, I do not want him hanging around, swearing at ladies, making a mess, barging into shops to get money for booze etc.

I believe Matthew is back. I am told that his last Anti-Social Behaviour Order (ASBO) ran out at 22.7.‘13 and now a new one is being applied for. Further he has been handed a notice to leave Church grounds; he’s been sleeping there again.
What can be done to remove what is now a persistent nuisance?
