Could not agree more who does clean the streets and if the punters cannot be botherd then the bars must take some responsibility for cleaning . Walking with my grandchildren with all the rubbish on the pavement
not pleasent ..but does anybody really care !!

It wasnt that long ago (honest) when we had a street cleaner who everyone in the village knew and he knew them..a stalwart of the place and did a great job, admittedly this was in cornwall, why can’t the council employ someone like this again up here. Albert is fondly remembered down home, to be replaced by a cart that holds the traffic up and is impersonal…....

The litter on all approach roads as well as on all roads in the village is disgusting. We need a
Keep Britain Tidy campaign for the country and definitely a Keep Alderley Clean and Tidy campaign. Have you ever walked from Alderley to Wilmslow and seen all the litter in the
hedgerows and gutters. Its been there for years and nobody does anything about it. Do any of
our councillors drive through the village - see the state of the roads, the litter - and decide to DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! No they dont. Its disgusting!

What about starting an Alderley Edge Clean Team. Maybe our Councillor’s could show a wonderful example and turn up at say 9am with some rubbish bags and get started.

The Parish Council have already approached bar/restaurant owners, on a face-to-face basis, asking that they keep clean the area around their own premises; some are happy to do so (they tell us) whilst others seem less inclined.
Sarah; I already spend time picking up the ‘rubbish’ that people leave in the park so perhaps you can be the one to set the example in the village?
Sadly it is Cheshire East Council who have responsibility (and money) to keep the streets clean; the C.E. leader in Councillor Jones…why not complain/write to him?

No I vote for another Councillor to start the litter picking. I do my fair share of litter picking, have no desire to do anymore. When you walk a dog ( i don’t walk him in the park) and you hate litter you tend to bring a fair bit home with you. Sorry I do enough thanks.

Lesley…there was once a small, 3-wheeled, orange vehicle that the Parish Council sent out to sweep the roads in the village…a little while ago, Cheshire East ‘nicked’ it away from us…we are trying to get it back!
Sarah…it never ends does it?
As to cig. ends; perchance a policy of no-smoking in the village, in public? Dream on!
