Due to a number of gas leaks occurring in the area of Congleton Road and Whitebarn Road a section of approximately 50 metres of the main will be replaced.

Works are due to start on Monday 9th November. Temporary traffic signals will be in place and the works should take up to 10 days to complete.

These gas repairs appear to be going on much longer than the advertised 10 days - any updates?  This morning in particular the combination of these and the temporary traffic lights further down the A34 were causing significant tailbacks, and it is of concern what the traffic situation will be when the Monks Heath roadworks start in addition next week.

I have just spoken to the Highways Department. Apparently the gas works have been completed, but now there is electrical connection work being carried out which is due to be completed today.

The temporary lights further down the A34, between the two sets of permanent lights at Alderley Park, are due to operate until December 18th to allow construction of the roundabout for the bypass.
