Does anybody know what the obnoxious smell around Alderley Edge is? - it has invaded our senses since Saturday and is still there on Monday night. Is it mushroom manure? Who has created it and where? Does it contravene public health and/or pollution regulations?

They have “muck spread” the fields behind Netherfields, but the wind brings it as far as the village. I’m a chef at the De Trafford & it comes through the vents into the kitchen….not pleasant!!

We live on the edge of countryside - it’s normal farm practice to spread muck - next people will be complaining about Cocks crowing and sheep pooing in the fields :-)))))  It’s a great smell to remind us of our great good fortune to live in such a rural environment.

seasonal muck spreading thats all,  If you want to smell a real weird smell stand across from the bubble room etc on a busy night and the stench of mixed aftershave and scent would stop an elephant at 50 paces. i could not believe it the first time i noticed it a summer or 2 ago its like a chemical cloud of mass distraction !

I have to say that I was brought up in the country, and spent much of my early years around farms, and I have extensive first hand experience of the “organic” smells that result. However I can honestly say that I have never, ever experienced anything remotely like that. Consequently I will take some convincing that what they were spreading was traditional farmyard “muck”.
