Quite a lengthy article under the title of “Alderley Edge - home of the rich, the wealthy and the famous” has just appeared in the property section of Times Online.

Largely focusing on Hare Hill Hall which has just come on the market at £10 million the article describes Alderley Edge as “probably the most glamorous village in the North of England.”

Labelled as “Gold Trafford” because of Alderley Edge’s close association with Manchester United players the article states that Alderley Edge is one of the few locations that actually resembles its gossip column image of a “friendly village where soap stars, footballers and their wives and girlfriends live it large - in mansions with swimming pools and garages for their Bentleys and Ferraris.”

According to Globrix.com the current average asking price in our village is £888,596, compared with an average for Cheshire of £280,380.

Thanks Lisa.  I assure you that my house is nowhere near these prices.

Alderley Edge often gets bad press for being the home of the rich and famous.  There are however plenty of lovely people in the village and it is a place with many local shops, restaurants and amenities that many other villages would love to have (and are sustained by this local wealth).  We are also surrounded by acres of beautiful Cheshire countryside.  We have good access to Manchester Airport, the West Coast main line and the high street in Wilmslow.  This is a wonderful place that we must preserve.

Yes and there are plenty of houses for under 200.000 as well, and quite a few people being paid on or just above the minimum wage.
