I made another interesting discovery about our village this week when visiting the Festival Hall - the research centre for The Family History Society of Cheshire is based at the hall.

If you are interested in studying genealogy and your family history then the research centre for Cheshire is on your doorstep. They have a range of research materials, including a well stocked library, microfiche and microfilm readers, computer facilities with internet access and a large family tree plotter. The library contains over a thousand books and exchange journals from other Societies.

As well as helping people with ancestors in Cheshire, they will also assist members in tracing ancestors who originated from elsewhere.

Non-members are only admitted if accompanied by a member (prior booking and proof of identity required) or you may join upon arrival. Visit http://www.fhsc.org.uk for more info or call 01625 599722.

The information above was taken from our web-site. unfortunately the information was somewhat out of date in that all non-members are now welcome to use the facilities without the need to be accompanied by a member. You do however need to book in advance as places are limited. The web-site will be updated asap. i hope to see some of you there very soon. Regards Alan Bennett - Chairman of the FHSC
