Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service has issued a warning to local residents following a large number of fires caused by tumble dryers.

Firefighters are urging people to take extra care around their home to prevent house fires.

On Saturday September 26th fire crews from both Wilmslow and Macclesfield were called out to house fire on Knutsford Road, which had apparently been caused by a tumble dryer.

Phil Hales, head of community safety at Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service, said: “I would just urge people to ensure that they check their appliances regularly, make sure filters are always cleaned properly and never leave your home when the tumble dryer is in use. Also, as with all appliances, make sure you turn them off before going to bed.”
