Dangerous Parking on London Road

Forgive me if this subject has been raised before but I am getting really concerned that a serious accident could happen as a consequence of mindless, illegal parking at the top of London Road.

Frequently in the evenings there are cars parked on double yellow lines outside the Library and on the opposite side of the road outside the Gusto restaurant. This effectively reduces the main A34 road to a single track road, and there have been several near misses as cars or lorries travelling from the Congleton end have been forced to stop suddenly as they are confronted by oncoming vehicles from the Wilmslow end of the village.

My guess is that the PCSO doesn’t patrol in the evenings so the thoughtless can park with impunity.

One particular chauffeur driven Bentley with a distinctive personalised number plate is regularly seen parked on the Bus Stop outside the Nat West Bank.  Not even Blue Badge holders are permitted to stop on a Bus Stop, but apparently for this person parking close to a bar has a higher priority than the disabled.

Hi Alan, it is worth noting that Cheshire East now enforce yellow lines and signage rather than the police. It might be worth speaking to them and requesting that a traffic warden pops down to take a look. I haven’t seen a warden in the village for some time.

Sian,

The problem will be that Wardens / PCSO’s don’t patrol in the evenings ( as far as I know) so the liklihood is that the practice will continue until such time as there is a serious head-on collision when a car heading toward Congleton meets a truck heading toward Manchester and they realise that two-into-one wont go!

Not just there Alan also traffic parked narrowing the main London Rd from Chorley ahll lane to Trafford Car Park.
