Has there been any comment from the police about the gypsy camp on the new by-pass? In particular whether they are staying there on a temporary or permanent basis.

We were first informed about the traveller’s camp by one of our members on Monday, 25th July.

They had notified Cheshire East Council who said they would be sending a team there that day to do a ‘mandatory welfare assessment’.

I followed up by contacting CEC on Monday and again on Thursday for information but have yet to receive a response. I’ll let you know if we receive any information.

I was asked this afternoon if I knew the whereabouts of a caravan site by a guy in a yellow Ford Transit Pickup with garden waste in the back - now reading this ?

I have no idea regarding the rules and regulations over travelers’ sites. I’d be interested to know if the council has a duty to provide amenities or what rights they have to move them on etc. I doubt they’ve raised much interest/concern as they are not overlooked by anyone and perhaps not causing a nuisance to anyone. Their location is pretty discreet.

Cheshire East Council have confirmed that notices to quit the land were served by the community wardens on Friday of last week.

The travellers have until Thursday to move on and the Council are attending court on Thursday to obtain an eviction order for them to gain possession of the land.
