Poor state of Festival Hall

Called today to renew subs with Family History Soceity, based on the second floor at the rear of the hall. The condition of the building, a major asset of the parish, is possibly a cause for concern. Could someone give reassurance that water coming through the ceiling, rotten woodwork, cracks in the brickwork etc are matters that are being addressed. The concern as I see it is that derelictions left unresolved can so easily in the case of a building of this particular type lead to its future uncertainty.      Steve Holding.

Hi Stephen,
essentially two options for the Festival Hall; knock it down and start again…£2 to £3 million…patch it up…delay caused by negotiations re. building a new Medical Centre attached to the Festival Hall…the Festival Hall was (imho) badly maintained during the years when it was ‘owned’ by M.B.C. The Parish Council now ‘own’ it i.e. you own it so once the Medical Centre building is done (its only been a few years of trying so far!) then the F. Hall will hopefully be ‘done up’.
Hope this helps,
Duncan Herald
