George Dawson, educated at King’s School Macclesfield and Cambridge
University, was a distinguished geneticist. He was born on 7 August
1927 in Alderley Edge, the only child of Percy John Fritz Stanley
Dawson, fishmonger, and his wife Edith Helen (née Fildes). His father was a
fishmonger.  His mother’s family may have been (William and Mary) Fildes,
cattle dealers, of Swinton. He died in 2004. I succeeded him as Professor of Genetics at Trinity College Dublin. I wonder of anyone would be able to give me further information about him and his family.

David, do you know which other universities Professor Dawson worked at?  I specialise in recruiting senior posts to universities across the UK and may be able to use my network to find out more information for you.  If you’d like to email me, you could look me up on Linked In.
