Concluding our series based on the National Trust’s ‘Walks on Alderley Edge’ leaflet, we focus on the Waterfall and Clockhouse Woods Walk which offers a varied mix of leafy woodland, ancient mining sites and sweeping views across the Cheshire Plain. The overall distance is 3km/2m, although those wishing to stretch their legs a little further have the option to make a diversion to Hare Hill before rejoining the main route at point 8 on the map below. Copies of the leaflet containing this and other Walks on The Edge can be obtained from the National Trust’s Cheshire Countryside offices which are located on the left hand side of the farm track a little way from the start of the walk.
With more than a hint of winter in the air, our next walk will major on footpaths which best encompass the beautiful autumnal shades of brown, orange, and green which are now steadily starting to appear in the trees around the village and the local countryside.
