Litter Bin at the top of Macclesfield Road.

Is it just me or is anyone else fed up with all the litter that is left at the layby at the top of Macclesfield Road on an almost daily basis?  The available litter bin clearly isn’t up to the job yet people still think it’s ok to leave their rubbish in the vicinity, where it invariably gets blown around.  Isn’t it ironic that many people visit because of the outstanding natural beauty of the area yet still think it’s alright to leave their rubbish behind?

Hi Steve,

I will visit the site on Monday and see about adding an additional bin to the lay by but a bigger sized one. In some areas we install a small wheelie bin which is anchored in, but a lot of people dont just put their lolly pop wrappers in them, they put bags of household waste into them which fills the bins in no time. The bigger bins which we install only have a small hole to put the litter in, so this may combat household watse being put in them.

Thanks Wesley, it puzzles me why people don’t just take their litter home if the bin is already full.  On another note, I took my 18 month old daughter to the park in the village yesterday morning and the litter was an absoluter disgrace.  I can only assume that the park was busy on Saturday due to the good weather….there were bottles and food wrappers everywhere…some people have no shame.
